Arvind Agarwal

Welcome to my website:

I was born in New Delhi, India and I came to USA in 1978 and   became US citizen in 1984. God has blessed me with a son Sachin and a little girl Aanchal. I worked in IT profession for almost 30 years. During this time I owned, managed and operated different businesses including an IT company, Hospitality business and Promoted Live musical and movie star concerts here in USA.

I have been collecting US Postage Stamps from the last 35 years. After having almost completed my stamp collection I wanted to start a new hobby so from the last 15 years I started collecting paper money of the world. I decided to create this website for educational purposes exclusively to paper money so that others can share the joy of my collection. Almost all of my  collection is now on display for your viewing pleasure. There are very few images which are not mine.

Paper currency collection is still a relatively new hobby in compare to Stamps & Coins collections. I have been collecting US Postage stamps and coins from the last 30 years and found that there is so much information available for Stamps and Coins collection in a way of reference books and on the internet but very little for Paper currency.

Under Overview/History – I have tried to cover lot of information regarding the history of paper currency of the World and somewhat more detailed history about US and Indian paper currency. There are many sites which have lot of detailed information for each country but not much about their currency.

Pictures worth thousand words, I am trying to display the world by dividing it into continents, then showing all the countries within those 7 different continents, then displaying the monetary system for each country, then displaying few currencies of each country and finally displaying the financial institute, Denomination, the year it was printed (if available) and also the status of the country. I have also provided a Direct Link to either World Bank or CIA website for each country and also tried my best to provide a link for each country's National or Central bank for more information and research purposes.

The goal of this site is, when a visitor leaves this site, he/she will know little more regarding the world, continents, countries and interesting facts regarding paper currencies of the world before they came here. I will keep updating this site as more information becomes available for each currency in the future.

Paper money collectors can be broadly divided into two major categories, specialization for a specific country or World Paper Money (WPM). Within each category, one can be either a general collector or a specialized collector. The goal of a general collector is to collect al least one paper currency of each country, whereas the goal of a specialized collector is to collect everything available in that specialized area.

As a General Paper Currency Collector of the world, I have tried to get a sample of at least one paper currency from each paper currency issuing country. You could view them either from the Country Index or by the continents.

As a Specialized Paper Currency Collector , I have created 3 Special Exhibits for your viewing pleasure.

Special Exhibit – USA: I have divided this exhibit into 6 categories (Colonial Money, US States Money, Confederated, Fractional, Large Bills and Modern Money). This way you can  see how the money used to look during British time. How each State used to have their own money.

Special Exhibit – India: I have divided this exhibit into 7 categories (Private Bank, British India, Portuguese India, French India, Princely India, Burma Pak Gulf and Haj, miscellaneous and Modern). Private Banks have been further divided into Bank of Bengal, Bank of Bombay, Bank of Madras and Oriental Bank. British India has been divided into Victoria Series, George V, George VI and Cash Coupons.

Special Exhibit – England:  Since I have just started to collect for paper currency of this country, so for now,   I have divided this exhibit into just 2 categories (Old and Modern).

Country Index:
The index covers all officially known Banknote countries in alphabetical order.

Willing to trade:
I have some duplicate banknotes which I am willing to trade. Please send me an email if you are interested in trading any banknotes which you may have.

Need Identification:
Time to time I do get some very old paper currency which is hard to identify because of the condition of the bill or the different languages.

Related Links:
I have added some interesting paper currency related links for your convenience. Some of these links are for general dealers, specialized dealers, private collectors and some of them are just for educational purposes.

My other interests include Stamps and First day Cover for the USA. I do have almost complete US stamps collection, Flying (A recreational pilot), few professional designations and Politics.

In politics, just to mention few, I was appointed as an Honorary Co-Chairman to Business Advisory Council in Washington DC and received a National Leadership Award. I was also awarded a Senatorial Medal of Freedom, a highest civilian award by the US Senate and a Congressional Order of Merit by the National Republican Congressional Committee. My name is engraved on the Founder's Wall at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington DC., Wall of Tolerance in Mountgomery, Alabama and Statue of Liberty Ellis Island museum in New York.

I am always looking to upgrade and expand my collection, so if you have any paper currency which you are willing to sell, then send me an email along with a scanned copy of the currency and your asking price and I will reply promptly.

If you would like me to add any of your paper currency to my website under any available categories then  send me an email along with a scanned copy and your explicit permission to use the image on my website

That's me. Please feel free to write to me any of your comments or suggestions regarding design, functionality and contents of my site. I would be very happy to receive your mails.

Have a great day...and Thanks for visiting my site.
